The Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee announced the official emblem and mascots, Thursday, arousing interest toward the Asiad that is to start next Friday in Guangzou, China.
The emblem projects the image of Asians soaring together hand in hand, while the mascots ― three harbor seals ― represents harmony and friendship in earth-friendly Asia.
The animals were selected as mascots as they reside near the city, and also Baengnyeong-do, the island where the tension between two Koreas lingers. The fact that the seals cross the sea border of the divided nation, symbolizes the longing of Koreans for peace in the region. The mascots were named Vichuon, Barame and Chumuro
