Seoul Museum of Art, Seosomun-dong

To Dec. 19: The Seoul Art Exhibition is an annual event organized by the Seoul Museum of Art that highlights current trends in modern art in Korea. From 1985 to 2003, the exhibition displayed the works of well-known artists of the time and included Korean painting, Western painting, prints and sculpture.

The focus of this year’s exhibition is modern Korean sculpture. Rather than being organized according to traditional classifications for art - such as representational or abstract - the exhibition adopts a comprehensive approach in order to illustrate various aspects of modern sculpture. On display are traditional sculptures as well as works that incorporate various media and may not easily be labeled as sculpture. In this way, the exhibition also demonstrates the evolution of Korean sculpture.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
